It's not just the fire brigade...

September 10, 2016

While I have been researching PTSD in the fire brigade, I have unearthed some staggering statistics. The suicide rates among emergency service personnel have spiked dramatically in recent years. especially among police.

The emergency services have seen a 30% budget cut across the board since 1997. A further 20% has been proposed to come into effect by 2020. This is obviously having an enormous effect on emergency response workers, particularly in terms of mental health. Current suicide rates are at an all time high.
