The screening was absolutely mind-blowing. Some incredible work on show, and a really interesting discussion afterwards about animation as the perfect tool for documentary film. I was honoured to be asked to share my thoughts, and a bit about the making of Blue Light.
This year as artist in residence at Downside School near Bath, I made this little film with the 1st years (age 11) during the first half of michaelmas term. Inspired by the collages of artist Peter Clarke, and as part of my mission to get as many kids involved in animation and filmmaking as possible!
I did some talking on the panel at the NAHEMI: Establishing the Filmmaker screening, at Aesthetica Film Festival. Absolutely blown away by the films at this festival. Amazing experience, and the screening was absolutely packed!
I am running some animation workshops with 11-12 year olds, and am hoping to get them to make a short film by the end of the term. Here is some of the artwork from the first session: concept art and story boards. Great stuff.
I will be talking in front of people at Shorts on Tap next week. I get a microphone and everything. Talking in front of people is something that could go immensely wrong, so come and have a good laugh at my expense.
